REAL NUMBERS.

* CLASSIFICATION OF NUMBERS.

1. NATURAL NUMBERS
This is the first set of numbers developed and used for counting. They are also called positive or counting numbers.These numbers are,1,2,3,.......

2. NEGATIVE NUMBERS.
    These numbers arose to permit solutions to equation of the form
x + a = b  where a and b are natural numbers and b is less than a.
These numbers are .....-3,-2,-1.

3. ZERO SET.
This is a singleton set consisting of zero. Zero is neither a positive nor negative number.The number is 0.

4. SET OF INTEGERS.
This is a combination of zero, natural and negative numbers.These numbers are........-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,.....

5.RATIONAL NUMBERS.
This is the collection of numbers which can be expressed as quotient or ratio of two integers.

x = a/b
where a and b are intergers and b must not be zero.

6.IRRATIONAL NUMBERS.
These are numbers which cannot be expressed as ratio of two integers.These include squre roots, cube roots, pi, etc.

7. REAL NUMBERS.
This is the combination of rational and irritional numbers.
